Highland Park has been the site of many important golf events including one of renowned golfer Bobby Jones’ first victories. At the age of 14, Jones played and won the Birmingham Country Club Invitational held at
Highland Park. In 1927, the Alabama golf course opened to the public and in 1955, the course was named for Charley Boswell, a
Birmingham native and 17-time National Blind Golf Champion.
In 1998, the restoration of Highland Park Golf took place under the watch of Bob Barrett, a highly respected golf course developer and manager, working with renowned architect Bob Cupp. The re-development was an overwhelming success, offering a classic design complimented with modern amenities. Since its restoration, Alabama's
Highland Parkcontinues to host many popular golf events including the Tiger Woods’ Junior Golf Clinic.

Alabama golf course. Water comes into play on half the course. You’ll find numerous elevation changes, many holes with uphill approach shots, winding creeks that add character to the course, several generous lakes, and heavily bunkered pristine greens.
Highland Park is also known for its outstanding golf course conditions. It offers well-manicured tees and fairways, perfectly raked bunkers, and first-class bent grass greens that run fast and true. They were even voted “Best greens in
Birmingham, Alabama” by Birmingham Magazine!
Located off the beaten path of the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail, Highland Park is truly unique in the fact that it is the only golf course in Birmingham offering beautiful vistas of downtown
Birmingham. The green on Hole No. 16 is the highest point of the golf course and offers a spectacular view of the
Birmingham skyline. You’ll also find many other picturesque holes on this city course. Some say hole No. 10 is the most picturesque hole on the course with a generous green surrounded on by water on three sides. Hole No. 18 will definitely make a lasting impression. You’ll tee off on a hill overlooking one of the many lakes on the course to a wide lush fairway with a panoramic view of Highland Park's clubhouse.
